The principle of base station based positioning: Since each base station has its unique CID, the information in the engineering mode is stored in a specific area of the phone's memory each time the phone is turned on and connected to the network. By locating a base station, it is achieved by obtaining certain parameters such as CID in the engineering mode through a specific program, and corresponding the CID to the region where the base station is located, ultimately achieving the purpose of mobile station positioning.
The specific program mentioned here is a JAVA program that runs on a mobile phone. Due to the important feature of the Java language, it can run on any operating system. In recent years, many mobile phones supporting Java have emerged, making the mobile phone a JVM (Java virtual machine). Obtain the CID, LAC, CH, TA, RxL, and TxPwr in the phone's memory through the J2ME (Java 2 Platform Micro Edition) program. After obtaining this data, a database support is also needed. This database is the correspondence between CID, LAC, and specific base station locations. Through CID, LAC, the corresponding base station locations can be found in this database.
At this point, the location of the base station is determined, but there is still a certain gap between achieving the positioning of the mobile station. At this point, values such as CH, TA, RxL, and TxPwr need to be used as parameters. The distance between the mobile station and the base station can be calculated through TA conversion; For base stations using directional antennas, CH can be used to determine the current sector of the mobile station; RxL and TxPwr are used as auxiliary data to revise the specific location
