If you know the distance between you and satellite A, then you must be somewhere in the red circle of A. If you also know the "red circle" range of satellite B and satellite C, then the intersection of the three circles is your position. This is the positioning principle of a GPS receiver, but it actually uses overlapping spheres instead of circles
