Global Positioning System (English: Global Positioning System, usually referred to as GPS), also known as the global satellite positioning system. The system was initially developed by the US government in the 1970s and fully completed in 1994. Users only need to have a GPS receiver to use the service without additional charges. GPS signals are divided into two categories: Standard Positioning Service (SPS, Standard Positioning Service) for civilian use and Precise Positioning Service (PPS, Precise Positioning Service) for military regulations. Because SPS can be used arbitrarily without any authorization, the United States originally added selective error (ie SA policy, Selective Availability) to civilian signals to reduce its accuracy because it was worried that hostile countries or organizations would use SPS to attack the United States. , so that the final positioning accuracy is about 100 meters; the accuracy of military regulations is less than ten meters. After 2000, the Clinton administration decided to cancel the jamming of civilian signals. Therefore, now civilian GPS can also achieve a positioning accuracy of about ten meters.
