What is RTK and how does it relate to GPS

　　Real-time kinematic carrier phase difference technology (RTK) is a difference method for real-time processing carrier phase measurements of two measuring stations. The carrier phase acquired by the reference station is sent to the user receiver for difference determination and coordinate calculation. This is a new commonly used GPS measurement method, the previous static, fast static and dynamic measurement need to be solved afterwards to obtain centimeter-level accuracy, and RTK is a measurement method that can get centimeter-level positioning accuracy in the field in real time, it uses the carrier phase dynamic real-time difference method.

　　RTK is an important milestone in GPS application. With the rapid development of satellite positioning technology, people's demand for fast and high-precision position information is becoming more and more intense. The key of RTK technology is to use the carrier phase observation of GPS, and make use of the spatial correlation of the observation error between the reference station and the mobile station, and remove most of the error in the observation data of the mobile station by means of difference, so as to achieve high-precision (decimeter or even centimeter level) positioning. Its appearance has brought a new dawn for engineering lofting, topographic mapping and various control measurements, and greatly improved the efficiency of field work.
