Researchers used rigorous analytical research methods to compare and analyze the positioning effects of Beidou and GPS in different regions of the route, especially in different motion states in the ocean and Antarctic regions, from multiple aspects such as signal-to-noise ratio, multipath, visible satellite number, accuracy factor, and positioning accuracy.

　　The results indicate that the signal quality of the Beidou system is generally comparable to GPS. In mid to low latitudes within 45 degrees, the dynamic positioning accuracy of Beidou is comparable to GPS, with horizontal and elevation directions reaching about 10 meters and 20 meters respectively; The horizontal accuracy of Beidou static positioning is in the meter level, which is also equivalent to GPS. The elevation direction is about 10 meters, slightly worse than GPS; In mid to high latitude areas, due to the limited number and poor distribution of visible satellites in Beidou, positioning accuracy is poor or impossible.

　　At present, the BeiDou system has achieved regional positioning, but does not yet have global positioning capabilities. The difference in positioning effectiveness between BeiDou and GPS is mainly caused by the number and distribution of satellites. As of the end of the research data collection in the article, the BeiDou system has 11 satellites in orbit. On June 23, 2016, China successfully launched the 23rd Beidou Navigation Satellite using the Long March-3C carrier rocket from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center.
