The fundamental difference between GPRS and the existing GSM voice system is that GSM is a circuit switching system, while GPRS is a packet switching system. Therefore, GPRS is particularly suitable for intermittent, burst or frequent, small amount of data transmission, as well as occasional large data transmission.
