Automatic Gain Control (AGC) system is a key module of wireless receiver. For GPS receiver, there are many signals entering the receiver frequency band in practical applications. In addition to useful signals, noise interference and environmental changes will cause signal fluctuation and change, affecting signal processing. Based on the above purposes, a system that can automatically adjust the gain and has a large Gain range is required to Control signal changes, This is the automatic gain control system.
The automatic gain control system mainly completes the following two aspects in the receiver: First, prevent the receiver from overloading due to excessive signal. For the received signal, the received signal can be strong or weak due to different distances. When the distance is short, the signal may be too strong, and when the distance is far, the signal may be weak. At this time, the receiver is required to adapt to this change. When the signal is strong, the receiver gain is reduced, and when the signal is weak, the receiver gain is increased. Second, the compensation receiver gain is unstable. When the receiver is working, the voltage instability, process parameters and temperature changes will cause gain fluctuation. Automatic gain control is to compensate the error caused by the receiver itself.
