Because the time difference is measured instead of absolute time, it is not necessary to meet the requirements of time synchronization, so TDOA has attracted much attention.

　　Enhanced observation time difference E-OTD (Enhanced-Observed TimeDifference) positioning technology: place several position receivers or reference points in the wireless network as the position measurement unit LMU, and the reference points have an accurate timing source. When the mobile phone and the LMU receive more than 3 base station signals, the time difference between the arrival of each base station signal will be calculated to estimate the location of the mobile phone. This positioning technology has high positioning accuracy, but the hardware implementation is also complicated.
