Application of GSM Network Communication in Vehicle Positioning System

source:Industry News release time:2022-07-12 Hits:     Popular:realtime gps tracker online

GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) is a European cellular mobile communication standard developed by ETSI (European Radiocommunication Standards Committee). The most important business of GSM is voice communication. The voice is digitally encoded and transmitted as a data stream by the GSM network in a circuit-switched mode. But the circuit-switched channel it uses allows a maximum transmission rate of 14.4kbit/s over the air interface, so GSM is limited.

GPRS is a major development based on packet switching technology based on the GSM standard, which provides wireless users with much higher transmission rates to meet the needs of explosive data transmission. In theory, GPRS users can use several time slots (packet data channels) at the same time to achieve a transmission rate of up to 170kbit/s. This enables traffic-based charging as channels are only allocated to users when packets are being transmitted or received. The high volume of data traffic enables efficient balancing of network resources among users, as service providers can use transmission time slots for other user activities. General Packet Radio Service (GPRS), the data extension of the mobile telephony standard GSM, is being seen as the first true packet switching architecture that enables mobile users to benefit from high data rates and The mobile terminal completes various data service applications. GPRS services are divided into categories: PTP (point-to-point) and PTM (point-to-multipoint) services.

The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a new generation of interstellar radio navigation system officially put into operation in December 1993 by the US Department of Defense after more than 20 years of experimental research and a cost of more than 10 billion US dollars. Its emergence and development has driven an emerging market with huge potential and increasingly fierce competition. According to the latest statistics, there are currently more than 4 million global users of GPS, and the market for related products and services is rapidly expanding. GPS has developed into an important industry.

With the development of the automobile industry and the intelligentization of traffic management, vehicle GPS navigation and positioning will become one of the greatest potential markets for the application of global satellite positioning systems. As far as my country's national conditions are concerned, vehicle GPS navigation and positioning has broad market prospects in the fields of special vehicle dispatch monitoring, bus intelligent management, and taxi operation management. The communication subsystem is one of the key subsystems for vehicle GPS navigation and positioning. In the past, the communication sub-system was implemented by radio stations and other related methods, and there were problems such as shortage of frequency resources and small coverage. In recent years, with the maturity of GSM communication technology, the combination of GSM network communication and GPS system will solve the bottleneck problem of GPS data transmission. and the advantages and disadvantages are described in detail.
