In fact, in order to achieve more precise positioning, we need to observe one more satellite. That is to say, the GPS receiver needs to intercept the signals transmitted by at least four satellites and combine this information with the information in the electronic calendar to accurately locate the receiver's position on Earth.
However, another big problem has arisen. Combining general relativity and special relativity, the satellite clock is not synchronized with the ground clock, and the satellite clock is approximately 38 microseconds faster than the ground clock every day. This number may seem insignificant, but the GPS system requires a time accuracy of nanoseconds (38 microseconds equals 38000 nanoseconds, and if not corrected, the GPS system will accumulate approximately 10 kilometers of positioning error per day), which is a significant error. Therefore, GPS navigators also need to calculate and correct this error based on relativity during positioning.
In open areas, satellite signals will be stronger and positioning will be more accurate. But in areas with many obstacles such as elevators and toilets, the signal will be slightly poor. Technology has changed life. With satellite positioning, we don't have to search for stars to guide us in the vast night sky, nor do we have to explore information intensive maps.
