1. Positioning
The positioning system of a GPS locator calculates the coordinate position of the GPS device by receiving satellite signals. This signal can be received as long as it is not in a particularly harsh environment. In other words, as long as the satellites orbiting in outer space do not stop working and you do not turn off the signal reception of the locator, the GPS locator can be located at all times.
So does this mean that even if the IoT card of the GPS locator is unplugged, it can still work normally? In fact, this involves the second aspect of the GPS locator's work - communication.
2. Communication
Generally speaking, the GPS locator needs to transmit the signal to the car owner for inspection after receiving it, in order to complete the normal operation of the GPS locator. If only positioning is completed and communication cannot be carried out, then you also cannot know the location of the vehicle. Therefore, if the IoT card inside the GPS locator is unplugged, it means that the car owner cannot receive the vehicle location information transmitted by the GPS locator, and therefore cannot perform derivative functions such as remote shutdown, remote upgrade, overspeed alarm, trajectory planning, etc.
Therefore, in order to protect your vehicle and facilitate the use of various functions of the GPS locator, it is not recommended to unplug the IoT card of the GPS locator. If you are concerned about someone maliciously unplugging your IoT card, you can also choose to purchase a card free GPS locator.
