Speaking of satellite positioning and navigation system, people will think of GPS. But now, with the rise of many satellite positioning and navigation systems, the global satellite positioning and navigation system has a new name: GNSS. At present, in addition to GPS, the "Galileo" navigation satellite system, which is jointly developed by the EU and China, is the most eye-catching in this field.
Galileo plan is a kind of satellite positioning scheme in medium altitude circular orbit. The establishment of "Galileo" satellite navigation and positioning system will be completed by the end of 2007, and will be put into use in 2008. A total of 30 satellites will be launched, including 27 working satellites and 3 standby satellites. The satellite has an altitude of 24126 km and is located in three orbital planes with an inclination of 56 degrees. In addition to 30 medium altitude circular orbit satellites, the system also has two ground control centers.
The Galileo system will provide guaranteed positioning and navigation services with an accuracy of 1 meter for road, rail, air and sea transportation and even for hikers in EU member states and China, thus breaking the dominance of the United States
